More and More New Technologies are Becoming Available for Mobile Phone Charging.

Charging mobile phones has become routine experience for most individuals. Those that use smartphones could even charge up to twice a day as the gadget uses up more batteries than conventional cellular phone units.

There are several new technologies now that could improve the cellular phone charging experience. Some are even environment-friendly as it utilizes sustainable energy.

The Globe and Mail reports, furniture giant, IKEA for instance has launched a furniture line with built-in mobile chargers. “The new furniture uses the Qi wireless charging standard, found in some Windows and Android phones, including the new Samsung Galaxy S6 expected to be launched soon. IKEA said it will also provide special charging covers for iPhones and older Samsung Galaxies.”

Those that are on-the-go but would love to have lesser carbon foot print, might want to try using recycled cardboard mini batteries. Inhabitat.com shared this revolutionary and environment-friendly way of charging cellphones, “Sick of carrying around cables and bulky chargers? Tired of searching out plugs and waiting for your phone to charge? This award-winning cardboard battery concept is disposable, biodegradable and will give you a charge for two, four or six hours.” The batteries are very small and could be carried around even on the pocket.

Solar-Powered cellphone chargers are also getting more portable, and easier to use. Greenlabel.com featured a solar-powered cordless mobile phone charger that is free, and of course provides unlimited charging hours. “It’s made with an acrylic protective layer, crystalline silicon, a nano battery, and a polycarbonate chassis. The battery has 1550 mAh capacity and is rated at over 1300 cycles.” And because it is cord-free, there’s less hassle for the user, and it is also neat.

Cellphone charging shouldn’t be a pain especially with these new technology aiming to just do what Smartphones do for its users – make their lives easier.

Prepaid Electricity 101

Pre-paid power meter

Prepaid electricity subscribers claim they ave up to 30% on their electricity bill when they shifted to prepaid. (Photo Credit: Charles Wiriawan, “Prepaid Power Meter” cc: Some Rights Reserved)

Everything you need to know about prepaid electricity

Subscribing to prepaid electricity san diego is the way to go for some countries where pre-paid electricity has already become an option.

In the United States for instance, Texas residents get to choose their electricity provider, as well as rates and plans for their usage – a big departure from the usual postpaid metered use. Paylesspower.com says as a deregulated state, Texas allows its residents to choose the best electricity provider that could not only provide their needs, but could also present electricity packages that fit their monthly budget. “In just a few simple steps, you can obtain reliable electric service, lower your electric bill, and increase energy efficiency for your home or business in Texas.” Read the whole story here.

But how does prepaid electricity work, and how come it has become a cheaper option?

In this video from abs-cbnnews.com, prepaid electricity is described as just the usual home electricity service but is metered much like a prepaid phone line. And since the consumer is not required to pay the usual start-up fees, and they become more conscious of their usage, they get to save 20-30% of their utility bills for the same set of appliances. “Ordinary consumers will not find it difficult to shift to prepaid as the system is easy as loading prepaid credits into a mobile phone. A text message will tell the prepaid consumer that his load is only three days’ worth, which alerts him to reload.”

In Guam, prepaid electricity has also become an option for consumers. Kuam.com explains here that interested residents just need a smart meter, and then sign-up for the program. “Some of the benefits no return item fees no deposits no late charges because you really pay as you go so let’s say if you deposit one hundred dollars on your prepaid account on your prepaid you can set up thresholds.”

If you are considering the idea of switching to prepaid electricity, you may want to check if it is already available in your area. Next thing to find out are the plans and packages that are being offered, and what suits your household the most. Then you can sign up.

How Vampire Electronics increase the cost of your Electricity Bills

Nice power strip

What consumers need to know to reduce their monthly electric bills

Vampire Electronics incur electricity costs even if they are turned off. You have to unplug them. Photo Credits: “Nice Power Strip,” taken by mroach, cc: some rights reserved.
Month after month, homeowners get their monthly bills, analyze it and think how come their bills have increased or remained high. They ask themselves questions about their usage and consumption patterns, only to realize that it has not changed a bit.
What consumers do not realize is that in their homes lie electronic vampires that suck up energy.
But what are vampire electronics, really?

Komando.com explains here that these are the appliances that eat up power even if they are turned off. “For example, if you have your desktop computer plugged in year-round, you’re paying up to $25 per year just to have it plugged in. Multiply that by the number of people in your house with a plugged in computer and it quickly adds up.”

In this post, livegreenrecyclebank.com enumerated the worst offenders, so to speak. “Electronics that have LED displays or use remotes require a certain amount of standby power, though practically any item with an external power supply can draw standby power.” If you need help with a poway electrical circuit breaker repair then give us a call now.

But since it is inconvenient for most people to unplug appliances that they use on a daily basis, tools like power strips. Spenergy.com relates in this article that with the right power strip, you can save up to 10% off your electricity consumption. “Plugging a collection of electronic devices into a power strip allows you to cut power to all of the devices at once with the flick of a switch on the power strip itself.” Our Certified contractor Electrician San Diego Electrical Contractor will be able to help you fix your next problem!

The impact of vampire electronics on a household’s energy bill can indeed be controlled. It is a matter of conscious effort on the part of the homeowner. Our San Marcos Electrical Contractor can be at your location in 30 minutes or less!

More Communities Start to Rely on Sustainable Energy Sources

Electrician Helping in HomeThere are a lot more other sustainable energy sources to supply electricity for a home. For instance, a homeowner can tap solar power, turbines, motion from the ocean, among others.

In Costa Rica for instance, they have only used sustainable energy for their electricity needs since the start of this year. In this article, thinkprogress.org lauded the South American nation for its efforts at tapping renewable energy to protect natural resources.

“The Latin American country hasn’t had to use fossil fuels at all so far in 2015, due to heavy rains that have kept hydroelectric power plants going strong. Wind, solar, biomass, and geothermal energy have also helped power the country this year,” thinkprogress.org said.

Australia on the other hand is also exerting efforts towards tapping sustainable energy sources. Magazine.good.is reports Australia has started using the Motion of the Ocean to generate zero-emission electricity and desalinate water.
Electrician Mira Mesa

“As of February 18, that system has been channeling clean, efficient, zero-emission energy into Australia’s power grid, providing electricity to the country’s largest naval base,” the website said.

In the United States meantime, the world’s largest solar farm continues to reduce carbon footprint through the Ivanpah Solar Electricity Generating System. According to this story from Iflscience.com “The complex is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 400,000 tons per year, which is about the same as taking 88,000 cars off of the road. It also produces less air pollutants, such as sulfur oxides, than natural gas-fired power plants.”

At the end of the day, efforts geared towards using sustainable energy do not only benefit the environment, as it also bodes well to the consumers. This is because the less conventional energy they use, the lower their electricity bills get.

Energy Prices are lower in States promoting Renewable Energy

Yes Energy is reall starting to get cheaper!

Texas is known for cheap and plentiful energy resources, but they’re usually of the dirty, fossil fuel–based variety. That reputation is changing. Texans can now buy renewable energy packages that are as cheap as or cheaper than the coal- or natural gas–based alternatives.

Texas is not an anomaly. A study released Friday by the venture capitalist firm DBL Investors shows that states boasting robust green energy programs have the nation’s cheapest electricity. The trend lines suggest it’s only going to get better for their consumers. In 2001, electricity cost more in the 10 top renewable energy states than it did in the 10 states with the lowest proportion of green energy production. By 2013, the situation had turned upside down: States with the most green energy now offer cheap electricity, while the dirty power states are the most expensive.

Electricity Prices for StatesYou could probably figure out whether you’re in a top 10 or bottom 10 renewable energy state by tracking your utilities payments over the past few years. Just in case you don’t archive your electricity bills, the 10 states with cheap green energy are Maine, Iowa, South Dakota, California, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Oklahoma, plus Washington, D.C. (Hawaii also has a high proportion of renewable energy, but it was excluded because its remoteness dictates energy prices more than any other factor.) The 10 laggard states in the DBL study were Florida, Connecticut, Delaware, South Carolina, West Virginia, Rhode Island, Ohio, Missouri, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

Full Article: http://ift.tt/1BCrcIP

What happened? Technology. The sun and the wind are free. (It sounds like something from a Joni Mitchell song, but it’s true.) The price of renewables is therefore based almost entirely on the cost and efficiency of the hardware that captures the energy. That’s a good thing, because, over the past few decades, engineers have demonstrated an incredible knack for making technology smarter, faster, and cheaper. (See, for instance, Moore’s Law.) The cost of fossil fuel–based electricity, in contrast, depends overwhelmingly on commodity prices. There’s only so much that engineers, economists, and logistics experts can do to manage the swings in coal and natural gas prices.

electricity line graph prices indexThis is a big advantage for renewables. The cost of wind power has dropped 58 percent in the past five years. Take a look below at what has happened to the cost of solar cells and modules over the past decade. It’s not a precipitous drop, but there is an obvious downward trend.

Imagine you’re an accountant at a utility company and have to do some projects for the next few years. Which of these graphs do you want to deal with?

This isn’t just a feel-good study about the success of renewables; it’s a direct challenge to the dishonest lobbying of fossil fuel interests. The American Legislative Exchange Council—the secretive coalition of corporative executives who want to write their own state laws—is currently trying to dismantle renewable portfolio standards, the rules that require utilities to generate a proportion of their energy from green sources. This Koch Industries–funded “think tank” claims that “green energy mandates replace the free market with bureaucratic government oversight, driving up costs.”

I wanted to start this paragraph with “The Koch machine has never been so wrong,” but that’s not accurate. Koch mouthpieces are wrong about so many other things, often spectacularly so. But this is a fairly clear lie. The DBL study is correlational—it doesn’t prove that green energy caused prices to drop; it merely shows that green energy states tend to have lower prices. Nevertheless, the accumulating data makes it very difficult to substantiate the claim that renewable portfolio standards increase electricity costs. Including a high proportion of renewable energy in a utility’s mix of sources does not increase prices.
The American Legislative Exchange Council–the secret coalition of corporative el cajon executives who wish to compose their particular state laws–is now striving to dismantle the rules that require utilities to create a percentage of their energy from green sources, renewable portfolio standards.

I needed to begin this paragraph with “The Koch machine hasn’t been so erroneous,” but that is not exact. Koch mouthpieces are wrong about many other things. But this is a lie that is pretty clear. The DBL 24hour poway study is correlational–it does not show that green energy caused prices to fall; it just demonstrates  Chula Vista that eco-friendly energy states tend to have lower costs. However, the collecting data makes it very hard to substantiate the claim that electricity prices raise. Including a high percentage of renewable energy in the combination of sources of a utility doesn’t raise costs.

Electricity that you can trust

I liked to begin this paragraph with “The Koch machine hasn’t been so erroneous,” but that is not escondido electric precise. Koch mouthpieces are wrong about many other things. But this is a lie that is pretty clear. Scientists can finally send electricity through the air wirelessly

Japanese scientists have made a breakthrough step towards developing new energy source for humans in the future by for the first time transmitting electric power wirelessly to a pinpoint target using microwaves.

Japanese scientists from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) have succeeded using microwaves to deliver 1.8 kilowatts of power through the air to a pinpoint target 55 meters away, a spokesman for the agency said.

“This was the first time anyone has managed to send a high output of nearly two kilowatts of electric power via microwaves to a small target, using a delicate directivity control device,” he said as quoted by AFP on Thursday.

Though the energy was only enough to run an electric kettle and the distance was not huge, this appears to be a giant leap in developing new energy sources. The successful experiment could pave the way to collecting inexhaustible solar energy in space and transmitting it to Earth, the researchers said.

The International Space Station and other satellites have been able to collect solar energy and use it for maintaining work. The main benefit of solar power generation in space instead of Earth is the permanent availability of energy regardless the weather conditions or the time of the day.

JAXA has been working for years on the Space Solar Power Systems project (SSPS) which envisages a space-based solar power plant that generates energy by collecting sunlight in geostationary orbit.

“SSPS consists of a space-based power generation/transmission facility that gathers sunlight, converts it into microwaves or laser beams, and transmits those to the ground; and a power receiving facility on the ground,” said lead researcher Yasuyuki Fukumuro.

However, science and technology have not yet reached the point where transmission of solar energy to Earth would be possible. Currently the researchers have moved from the study phase to the technology demonstration phase, Fukumuro said.

“There are many technological challenges to solve before SSPS can be implemented,” he said. “When transmitting power by microwaves, a significant technological challenge is how to control the direction, and transmit it with pinpoint accuracy from a geostationary orbit to a receiving site on the ground.”

The SSPS project sees transmitting microwaves from an altitude of 36,000 kilometers to a flat surface 3 km in diameter, which is “like threading a needle,” he added.

It could take decades before practical application of such technology, said the JAXA spokesman as cited by AFP. He predicted that the SSPS project could be launched by the 2040s.

The idea to supply power from space for use on the Earth was introduced by Dr. Peter Glaser in 1968 and he was granted a patent for it in 1973. The project was supported by NASA and the US Department of Energy, but it was judged too costly and was shut down in the 1980s.

Electrical Safety should never be overlooked

Safety should always remain a priority in the household and electrical repair safety.

One of the major safety areas that should be looked into is electricity. Often neglected some homeowners allow too many electrical cords to lie around, use small appliances near water sources, or over use extension cords. Unknowingly, these electrical hazards can harm children and adults alike.

electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk advises parents to not rest on the assurance that plastic socket plugs provide. They say the sockets have their own safety features and that most electrocution accidents occur when parents leave plugged small appliances lying around that their kids could reach.

“Around two-thirds of parents will carry out electrical DIY in the home as part of the preparation. However, they often do so without taking the necessary safety precautions and as children grow they can also be exposed to all sorts of hazards.”

They have summarized their other useful safety tips here.

The thing is not all homeowners are as vigilant as they should be. Revolutionary products like electric blankets for instance, provide comfort during really cold winter months, but pose real danger to the user especially if the person does not fully understand how to use it.

Goodhousekeeping.com came up with a list to guide potential homeowners in buying electrical blankets, “before you buy, there are several options to consider and safety precautions you should know.”

Read the whole list here.

Find a Gforce Electrician El Cajon Here. Or call today to get your fast free estimate.

But homeowners also run the risk of getting into a fatal electrocution accident outside their residences.

Schneider-Electric.com shares the Electric Safety Foundation International has ranked workplace electrocution as the sixth leading cause of workplace death. For Schneider Electric, “Safety awareness and how to recognize electrical hazards should be a ‘way of life’ for electrical workers,” and that “electrical workplace safety is a never-ending process.” With this they shared their best practices to avoid electrical accidents in the workplace, which can be seen here.

At the end of the day, safety remains at the hands of the individuals occupying a home or working in an office. In the home, electric safety inspections should be conducted regularly to ensure that everything is in place.

And while employees have not much control over their company’s practices with regard to electrical safety, they can always remain vigilant and report electrical safety hazards that they may notice.

Windshield notes break the monotony of everyday driving

After a long day’s work, employees robotically head to the parking lot to retrieve their cars and drive home. Same goes for parents, whom after a tiresome grocery shopping with the kids, return to the parking lot loading up one by one all the bags containing grocery items and other stuff they may have bought.

For most people, retrieving their cars from the parking lot is routine, much like an involuntary muscle doing its work without the prodding. One thing that could break this pattern is finding a note in the windshield.

While most of the time notes left on windshields are product brochures or real estate listings, sometimes drivers stumble upon personal notes intended for them.

For instance, ijreview.com featured an unusually touching note clipped unto the windshield of a car whose batteries are drained as the headlights have been left on by its owner.

“The story has blown up in a big way on Reddit, with over 1,500 comments. It’s a reminder and example that a simple gesture of kindness can have a big impact.”

But not all notes that can be found on windshields are heaven-sent letters addressed to the car owners. It could also be expressions of frustrations towards them by their fellow car park occupants.

Buzzfeed.com rounded up more than two dozen passive aggressive auto glass notes left for the car owners to read.

“Forget polite notes, these drivers are ANGRY.”

Read it here.

But what if instead of a note, you saw a hundred dollar bill? Fox6now.com warns, you should not get the money because it is a carjacking bait which has happened in Las Vegas and in Maryland.

“When you get out of your car to retrieve your gift, there is a scammer waiting around the area and rushes into the driver seat of your car. You are left without a car, and who knows if you’ll still have that $100 bill.”

Read the story here.

But if you find your windshield smashed when you return to the parking lot, think before freaking out. Did you leave any valuables inside that may merit smashing? This woman featured in opposingviews.com smashed a car’s windshield to rescue what the car owner values most:

Watch the video.

So the next time you go back to the parking lot to retrieve your car, look at your windshield repair . You might just get a note.
